Brent Stammers
September 24, 1958 - March 19, 2026
Brent Lyle Stammers passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at Big Country Hospital in Oyen, Alberta, at the age of 67, with many family members by his side.
Brent was born on September 24, 1958, at Cereal Hospital to George and Audrey Stammers. He attended Helmsdale School for Grades 1 through 4, and then continued his education at OPS and SCHS, where he completed Grades 5 through 12. After graduating high school, Brent spent one year working for the Department of Highways in road construction. He then returned to his roots, farming alongside his father and brother, eventually purchasing his own farm in 1985.
Shortly thereafter, Brent married the love of his life, Carla Flemmer, on June 8, 1985. Together, they built a life and family, welcoming two children, Nicole (Cory) and Tyler.
Brent spent 29 years in the oil and gas industry, with the majority of that time in Bindloss. He worked at the same plant through 13 different companies, alongside the same four “Bindloss boys,” forming friendships that stood the test of time.
Brent had a deep love for cattle and took great pride in ranching. He always looked forward to gatherings such as brandings, weaning, and any opportunity to visit with family and friends.
He also enjoyed hunting—geese, deer, pheasants, and other edible wild game. His many adventures produced not only trophies but also great stories, including the time it took miles of steel cable to pull out a very stuck pickup truck.
Every summer, Brent cherished his camping trips to Big Stone, where he enjoyed his two favourite pastimes: fishing and visiting. He was never one to shy away from a good conversation, whether with lifelong friends or someone he had just met.
Brent’s pride and joy was watching and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved attending their activities and especially cherished family trips to Mexico.
Brent is survived by his cherished wife, Carla; his children, Nicole (Cory) and Tyler; and his beloved grandchildren, Halen, Jaxson, Connor, and Kendall. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Audrey; his brothers, Dale (Allison) and Shane (Mary); many nieces and nephews; and Carla’s family: Bev Flemmer, Ken (Sheila) Flemmer, Lane (Kelsey) Gibson, Marilyn (Larry) Fuller, and Ian (Thelma) Bird and their families.
Brent was predeceased by his father, George Stammers; his maternal and paternal grandparents; Bill and Alison Gibson; and Cheryl Bird (Carla’s family).
