Spring activities and Easter fun brighten the week at Oyen Lodge
By Dianne Spath
Oyen Lodge Recreation Director
Hello everyone. It looks like some more winter weather has arrived, but it seems to melt in a day or two. It just seems to snow enough to give us some exercise shovelling again.
Colouring eggs!
Monday morning started with exercises, followed by a one-on-one Scrabble game. In the afternoon, there was bingo.
March 30 was National Doctor’s Day. Thank you to all the doctors who come to the Lodge on Tuesdays to check up on our residents.
Exercises and the regular bus run downtown started Tuesday morning. Dianne was away, so there were no activities in the afternoon.
Wednesday started with exercises, followed by Phase 10 card games. In the afternoon, the residents enjoyed some shuffleboard games. The residents also held a resident council meeting to discuss any concerns. Resident families are allowed to sit in on meetings or join the council if they wish. Before supper, the residents were entertained on piano by Taylor Neilson.
Wednesday was April Fool’s Day, so hopefully there were a few good pranks that day.
Thursday started with exercises, then the residents had some fun colouring eggs for Easter. In the afternoon, there was an Easter egg hunt, where plastic eggs filled with chocolate candy eggs were placed around the Lodge for the residents to collect for some chocolate for Easter weekend.
Good Friday was a holiday, so there were no activities.
Happy birthday to staff member Gian Salvanera on April 5. I hope everyone had a great long Easter weekend with family and friends.
“April is a reminder that something better is always around the corner.” “Hello April. Be a month of rebirth, regrowth, and renewal.”
Have a great week everyone, and we’ll see you at the Lodge!
