Residents keep active at Oyen Lodge

Residents at the Oyen Lodge kept busy with a variety of activities during the first week of March.
The week began Monday morning with exercises, followed by a one on one game of Scrabble. In the afternoon, residents gathered for bingo.
Oyen Lodge residents take part in a friendly horse race game during an afternoon activity at the Lodge last week. Horse No. 6 “Topsy” finished as the top winner of the day.
Tuesday started with exercises and the regular bus run downtown for shopping. Later in the afternoon, the Lodge hosted an Ice Cream Parlour where residents enjoyed sundaes, banana splits and floats. The day also marked National Pancake Day.
Wednesday’s activities included morning exercises and crossword games, followed by horse races in the afternoon. Horse No. 6, Topsy, was the top winner of the day.
On Thursday, Personal Touch Clothing and Avon visited the Lodge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving residents an opportunity to do some spring shopping. After dinner, residents took part in shuffleboard games and later enjoyed piano music performed by Taylor Neison.
A birthday was also celebrated during the week, with Allen Alvarez marking his special day on March 5.
Friday morning began with exercises, followed by a World Day of Prayer gathering held in the Lodge activity room. Bingo took place in the afternoon and music by Jorgenson’s was enjoyed in the evening.
Several observances were also noted during the week. March 7 was Dress in Blue Day to raise awareness about colorectal cancer and Employee Appreciation Day recognizing the dedication of staff. Residents also marked International Women’s Day on March 8, celebrating the achievements of women and raising awareness about discrimination.
Looking ahead, Maximum Hearing will be at the Lodge on March 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the family room.
