Mya Walker

My name is Mya Anne Evangeline Walker, daughter to Dale and Stacie, and sister to Vance. I was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan; as a matter of fact, I was the first baby born in the Kindersley Hospital in the new year. After being born, I have lived in Oyen ever since. I attended Oyen Public School from preschool to Grades 6 to 7 up until now at South Central High School. Growing up around my dad and brother, two very mechanically inclined people, I gained an interest in what we call "toys." Dirtbikes, quads, skidoos, and the odd machine that would randomly show up in the shop that you just did not really ask about, like a bar stool attached to some wheels that went unusually fast. I have been riding since I was at least seven. My dad would always say, "If you can start it, you can ride it." I most likely always figured out how to start it and watched the quick regret in my dad's eyes as I pinned it out of the yard. Sometimes I came back safe and sound; other times, he found me crying in the dirt, with the bike laying a couple feet in front of me. My main hobby is snowmobiling with family and friends. I look forward to it every winter. Nothing is better than riding all day and coming back with nothing broken; that only happens sometimes. The snow covers those rocks pretty well. My favourite memories in school are honestly just being around my friends and laughing in class with the occasional "Yes, I promise I am doing my work; please do not move me." Following in my mom's footsteps, I hope to attend Medicine Hat College and get a diploma in social work. I am passionate about helping people, listening when no one else will, and hopefully making their lives a little bit better.
