Carter McNeill
I was born in Medicine Hat in 2009 and grew up in Bindloss. Being raised on a farm has instilled my love for the outdoors. I grew up riding dirt bikes, fishing, hunting, boating, and spending countless hours in the field helping my parents farm.
I have a large immediate and extended family. Spending lots of time at family gatherings has infused in me the importance of family, as well as the tradition of always watching for a chance to sneak the first—or second—piece of dessert.
During my kindergarten to Grade 9 years at Warren Peers School, I spent a lot of time playing sports, including volleyball, basketball, badminton, and track. This later led to minor hockey and baseball in Oyen. I really enjoyed the time I spent in the rink and on the field with my friends. We also traveled a lot in the winters when I was younger, and one of my favorite activities is bodyboarding in the ocean.
Whether during high school or over the summer months, I explored many different trades including autobody, welding, mechanics, electrical, and construction. Less than a month after my 17th birthday last January, I earned enough credits to complete my high school requirement.
Since then, I have been working as a farmhand and would like to start a career as a power lineman in the near future, with hopes that I can come back to the farm and help when needed.
