Hello everyone. The 17-degree temperature has been great this last week. Everyone is getting out and enjoying the sunshine. For March, that is pretty nice weather.

Monday started with exercises, followed by a one-on-one Scrabble game. In the afternoon, there was bingo.

Exercises and the regular bus run downtown were on Tuesday morning. In the afternoon, there was an ice cream parlour, in which ice cream sundaes, floats or banana splits were served with a chocolate green mint Oreo cookie on the side for St. Patrick’s Day.

Wednesday started off with church led by John and then a Phase 10 card game. There was an annual resident council meeting with Gloria in the afternoon. Taylor Neilson was at the Lodge to play the piano at 4:30.

Thursday morning there were exercises, followed by baking. In the afternoon, we had our St. Patrick’s Day party. Green beer or ginger ale and green lemon cake were served. We had some surprise visitors show up to play some music for us during the party. Thanks to Rob and Jack Shields and Brad Broadhead for entertaining the residents for the afternoon. It was wonderful. In the evening, the residents enjoyed some great music from Luke, who comes from Calgary. It was also very enjoyable.

On Friday morning there were exercises, followed by horse races. Horse No. 2, Mariah, and horse No. 4, Willie, tied for first place that day. Bingo was played in the afternoon and, in the evening, there was music by Jorgenson’s.

March 20 is the first day of spring, and it did turn out to be a wonderful sunny day. The green decor has come down, and now it will be time to decorate for Easter.

Happy birthday to staff member Tami Olds on March 25.

The Oyen Lodge residents and staff would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the Stammer family. We are thinking of you all at this sad time.

Have a great week, everyone.

“Spring is a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can be.”

“Spring arrives like a breath of fresh air and adds new life and new beauty to all that is.”
