Vote to Stay launches campaign against Alberta separation

CALGARY – A new organization called Vote to Stay launched today to mobilize Albertans who want the province to remain in Canada ahead of the Oct. 19 referendum.

Former federal Conservative cabinet minister Monte Solberg is chairing the group. He served under prime minister Stephen Harper.

"Alberta's greatest moments have always come from building a bigger future, not from turning our backs on the wider world," Solberg said. "From the oil sands boom to national leadership in business, sport, science, and culture, Alberta's influence has always been strongest within a united Canada. We don't succeed by turning inward. We succeed by competing, building, and leading."

The organization plans to take part in the referendum debate through announcements and events aimed at Albertans who believe the province's future is strongest within Canada.

"Our goal is simple: inform voters, listen to their concerns, and get more people on board with pledging their vote to stay," Solberg said. "This is about engaging Albertans directly and building a movement rooted in facts, respect, and a shared commitment to Alberta's future within a united Canada."

Albertans can sign the pledge at VotetoStay.ca.
