Tech manufacturing expansion loading in Alberta
Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is investing $20 million to expand its Edmonton manufacturing facility, with Alberta's government contributing a $620,000 grant through its Investment and Growth Fund.
The expansion will add new wafer processing, inspection and automation equipment and modify the facility to increase manufacturing capacity. Teledyne expects the project to create 16 permanent full-time jobs and 20 temporary construction jobs.
Teledyne established its Edmonton operation in 2019. The facility designs and manufactures microscopic sensors and components used in vehicle safety systems, medical diagnostics, cancer research, industrial gas detection, consumer electronics, telecommunications and aerospace applications.
Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration Minister Joseph Schow said the investment reflects Alberta's appeal to high-tech manufacturers. "Through the Investment and Growth Fund, we are helping close the deal on high-impact projects that create jobs, grow our economy and strengthen Alberta's advanced manufacturing sector," he said.
Plant manager Steve Bonham said the expansion signals confidence in the region. "Our expansion in Edmonton is a vote of confidence in the region's talent and innovation ecosystem," he said. "We are grateful to the Government of Alberta for its trust and to Edmonton Global for its unwavering support."
Edmonton Global CEO Daryn Edgar called the decision a reflection of the region's industrial strength. "This expansion reflects the confidence global technology leaders have in the Edmonton region's technical talent, industrial infrastructure and supportive investment environment," he said.
The Investment and Growth Fund has supported 18 grants since fall 2021, helping to attract more than $1 billion in private capital investment and supporting over 1,400 permanent full-time jobs. Alberta's government committed nearly $28 million to the fund in Budget 2026.
