Spring decor brightens a wintry week at Oyen Lodge

By Dianne Spath,
Oyen Lodge Recreation Director

Hello everyone.

We had another shot of winter surprise us again. The moisture has been nice, but we don’t need any bad storms for our ranchers during calving season.

The Lodge is decorated for the Easter holiday, with lots of bunnies and coloured eggs all around. Easter weekend is just around the corner, so I hope everyone has a great long weekend. And don’t forget to play a few pranks on April Fool’s Day.

Monday morning started with exercises, followed by a one-on-one Scrabble game. In the afternoon, there was bingo. In the evening, the 4-H group came to the Lodge to play games with the residents, and they supplied donuts for the evening coffee hour.

Exercises and the regular bus run downtown for shopping started Tuesday morning. Father Rodell led Catholic church at 10:30.

Wednesday started with church music with Jack Shields, followed by Phase 10 card games. In the afternoon, there were shuffleboard games and piano music by Taylor Neilson.

Thursday morning, there were exercises and baking. ATB Financial was at the Lodge from 10 to 11 a.m. for the residents to do some banking. In the afternoon, there was the monthly Birthday Bash party. Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was served along with coffee or tea. Thursday was also National Epilepsy Awareness Day, and some of the residents wore purple to show their support for epilepsy.

Exercises started our Friday morning, followed by horse races. Poncho and Mariah tied for first place that day. In the afternoon, there was card bingo and, in the evening, music by Jorgenson’s.

Have a great week everyone, and we’ll see you at the Lodge!
