South Central High School Greece trip approved by Prairie Rose trustees

OYEN — Trustees with Prairie Rose Public Schools have given approval in principle for an international field trip that will see students from South Central High School travel to Greece in 2027.

The trip, planned for Easter break, will take students to several historical sites, including Athens, Argolia, Olympia and Delphi, along with a Greek Islands component. The itinerary is designed to connect classroom learning with real-world historical and cultural experiences.

The South Central High School trip was one of several items discussed during the board’s April 14 meeting. Trustees also reviewed a year-to-date financial report showing the division is projecting a surplus of approximately $889,904, driven by higher-than-expected revenues and adjustments to provincial funding.

In addition, trustees approved a three per cent increase to support staff compensation for the 2026–27 school year, recognizing the growing complexity of their roles across the division.

Updated school calendars for 2026–27 were also approved, including a change that moves a professional development day from Dec. 4 to Oct. 8.

Trustees heard reports highlighting increasing demands in communications and privacy compliance, along with continued growth in student programming and engagement across Prairie Rose schools.
