Sibbald News: Sun warms the prairie as showers and seeding fill May calendar
By Lee Switzer
Belated happy Mother's Day to all the hard-working moms in the area. With the seeders running and lots of spraying happening these days, the roads and family life are kicking into high gear. Ranchers are also busy hauling cow/calf pairs to pasture. May is here.
Warmer weather is also calling people outdoors. Deck furniture is being dug out and cleaned. Flower beds are being planned while other places are being cut back after a winter rest. The south beds are really showing growth. The chives are looking great. Peonies and bleeding hearts are shooting up. Garlic is up in my garden and some folks have onions or spuds in now.
Dance has finished up for another season with Wilson School of Dance holding their recital at the end of April and Breaking Ground studio wrapping up last weekend. Jack and Norma Jean Burns were out watching their granddaughters dance and visiting with Brian and Heather Norris recently.
Roxie Gregus, Janet Macey, Cindy Kunz, Colleen Chapchuk, Sandra Lindholm, and Marilyn and Rhea Pearson gathered at Shaune and Lee's place as they interred Reita Ogg's ashes at the cemetery on May 2. Reita was the last living member of the Morley and Minnie Switzer family. The Ontario siblings and a few other cousins couldn't come, but the remaining family enjoyed visiting, celebrating Reita and remembering other Switzer family gatherings.
Baseball is in full swing. I couldn't resist that bad pun. Several local families are on the road as kids go here and there for practice.
