Pyjama Party theme highlights Oyen Ladies Bonspiel
Pyjamas and curling stones made for a winning combination as the Oyen and District Curling Club hosted its 2026 Ladies Bonspiel on Saturday, Feb. 7.
This year’s theme was a Pyjama Party, with participants kicking off the day with mimosas before heading to the ice.
Erin Logan served as draw master for the event, which featured nine teams competing in three four-end games throughout the day. The format kept the action moving and allowed teams plenty of time for both competition and camaraderie.
Off the ice, the Chuckwagon restaurant kept the curlers well fed. A prize table featuring donated items drew plenty of attention, with participants entering bucket draws for a chance to win.
Instead of paying a traditional $40 entry fee, each curler brought a wrapped gift valued at $40 for an end-of-day gift exchange. The exchange sparked plenty of laughter — and a bit of playful disappointment when coveted gifts were claimed by others.
Organizers Erin Logan and Kari Kuzmiski coordinated the event, which was described as an enjoyable day for all involved.
The club extended thanks to Dan McLaughlin for preparing the ice, the bar workers for their support, and the many businesses and individuals who donated prizes, including Cool Beans Coffee, Canalta, Denise Hogan, Susan Herbert, Oyen Backhoe, Jackie Dick, Lindsey Strutt (Silver Icing/Sparkman Welding), Oyen Liquor Mart, Lijdsman Insurance, Oyen Pharmacy, TD Bank Small Business (Erin Logan), Sharon Berg, Chuckwagon, Breaking Ground Dance, Black Bird Apothecary (Hanna), Christine Tucker, Hair Affair, Heather Norris, Oyen Home Hardware, KD’s Fine Wine and Spirits and Kari Kuzmiski.
Organizers say they look forward to welcoming curlers back for next year’s spiel.
