Lots of love and sweet surprises at the Oyen Lodge

Hello everyone. I hope everyone had a wonderful Family Day long weekend and a great Valentine’s Day. The weather has still been nice, but there are some chillier temperatures ahead.

Monday started with exercises, followed by a one-on-one Scrabble game. In the afternoon, there was bingo.

Tuesday morning started with exercises and the regular bus run downtown for shopping. There was Catholic Church led by Father Rodell at 10:30. In the afternoon, there was an ice cream parlor, where the residents had their choice of floats, banana splits, or sundaes.

Wednesday morning, there was church led by Catherine, followed by a game of dominoes. In the afternoon, there were shuffleboard games. Wednesday was “National White Shirt Day,” and some residents took part by wearing their white shirts for the day.

Thursday, there were exercises, followed by some card games. In the afternoon, the residents celebrated Valentine’s Day. Chocolate heart cakes with pink or red icing, chocolate heart candies, and wine were served to celebrate the occasion. The residents wore pink or red to match the Valentine décor.

Friday morning, there was baking, followed by horse races. #3 horse, “Crazy Lazy,” took the win for the day. In the afternoon, there was card bingo and, in the evening, music by Jorgenson’s.

Happy Birthday to Joan Shields and Dan Hertz on February 15. Have a great week, everyone.

“Though February is short, it is filled with lots of love and sweet surprises.”

“Life is better when you’re smiling.”
