Expanded Alberta Find a Provider website helps Albertans access primary care

Finding a primary care clinic, family doctor, nurse practitioner or registered midwife is now easier with the launch of the updated Alberta Find a Provider website.

The site, formerly called Alberta Find a Doctor, was first launched in 2019 by Alberta’s Primary Care Networks to help residents locate clinics and providers accepting new patients.

Primary Care Alberta acquired the site in 2025 and has since worked to expand its services and improve navigation. The upgraded platform launched Feb. 19.

Changes include a new name, Alberta Find a Provider, reflecting broader access to primary care professionals. The site also has a new web address at albertafindaprovider.ca.

The updated platform now includes a directory link to the Alberta Association of Midwives, in addition to listings for family doctors and nurse practitioners. The redesign also features improved search tools to help users more easily locate providers and clinics accepting new patients.

“Our first year was about bringing teams together and building the foundation for stronger primary care across Alberta,” said Kim Simmonds, chief executive officer of Primary Care Alberta.

Primary Care Alberta plans, funds and supports primary healthcare across the province and helps connect residents with front-line services, including Health Link 811 and public health teams.

Residents can visit albertafindaprovider.ca to search for available providers.
