EAST SOUNDING 4-H CLUB: Happy New Year everyone!

Our 4-H agenda ran a little slower for the month of December, on the 30th those of us that have heifers and/or a Pen of three Project (a Pen of Three is a group of 3 females that we choose to group together bast on similar characteristics) filled our trailers and we hauled them up to Rude Ranch to get their starting weights. It was nice to get together after Christmas. And us kids even enjoyed a snow ball fight. We welcomed a new member to the ESC club this month, a dear friend of mine, Aimsley Rumohr we are excited to have you!

Even though our scheduled activities were quiet this past month, the work never ends, in fact, the time off school for the Christmas holidays, for us 4-H kids is very beneficial, we can actually have quality time to spend working on our calves, getting them to trust us, teaching them to lead, and to be groomed. By this time in the 4-H year, our projects are on a very strict feeding schedule...we are calculating their feed down to the pound, the exact times they are fed in a day, perfect timing for fresh bedding, its not only barn work, it is also record book keeping that we need to keep up on. Recording their feed, cost of bedding, anything these animals need is written down.
This month’s BEEF recipe comes to you by one of our own leaders, a mom of 4, and lady incredibly passionate about 4-H.....can’t wait to try this one out Liz Westerlund!
