Coronation RCMP investigate fatal rollover in Paintearth County

Coronation RCMP are investigating a fatal single-vehicle rollover that occurred early on Jan. 7, 2025, on Range Road 111 in Paintearth County.

Police were called to the scene around 2:50 a.m., where they found that the driver and several passengers had been ejected from the vehicle. Emergency services pronounced the driver, a youth from Special Areas 4, Alta., dead at the scene.

Seven passengers were in the vehicle, exceeding the number of available seatbelts, and not all were properly restrained. All passengers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash, though the investigation is ongoing.

RCMP extended their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
