Arwen Alvarez

My name is Arwen Elizabeth Alvarez, but most people know me as Eli or Arwen. I was born to my wonderful parents, Irene and Allen, who have always supported and encouraged me to work hard and believe in myself. I began my educational journey in the Philippines, where I studied from pre-kindergarten through Grade 10. Moving to Canada to complete my remaining years of high school was a big change, but it helped me grow both academically and personally.

Throughout my school years, I discovered many interests and strengths. I enjoy watching movies and find comfort in relaxing stories after busy days. I also enjoy organizing things, whether it is my workspace or daily tasks, because it helps me stay focused and calm. In my free time, I enjoy watching anime, especially Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Chainsaw Man, which inspire my imagination and creativity.

One of my favourite school memories was having the opportunity to work in a hospital for my work experience credits. This experience was meaningful to me because it confirmed my passion for healthcare and helping others. It allowed me to see firsthand how dedication and compassion can make a difference in people’s lives.

My favourite saying is, “Don’t be afraid to do it; you might succeed,” and I try to live by it every day. In the future, I plan to work in the healthcare system as a licensed practical nurse and eventually upgrade to become a registered nurse. I am proud of how far I have come and excited for what lies ahead.
