OYEN β€”An upcoming charity auction in the Oyen region will help a lot of people, and it all involves "Three Little Piggies Go To Market."

Three pigs, named Larry, Curly and Moe, were raised and donated by 4-H club members Rexstin and Klyde Griffith, for a charity auction to be held June 13 at the Hanna District 4-H Show and Sale. Submitted

The "Three Little Piggies" charity auction will offer to the highest bidder three high-quality swine donated by a local farm to raise money for two hospital foundations and two food banks. The sale will be held at the Hanna District 4-H Show and Sale June 13 in the Hanna arena and includes three participating clubs: the Dryland Multi Club, East Sounding Creek 4-H Beef Club and Hanna Rangeland 4-H Multi Club.

The 4-H clubs are inviting all interested bidders to attend the weekend event in person, which also offers a supper. Online bidding is also available at www.dlms.ca. Proxy bidders are also available for those who need them; more information is at https://cattlevids.ca/2026/pdf/Hanna4-H2026-web.pdf.

Three pigs, named Larry, Curly and Moe, were raised and donated by 4-H club members Rexstin and Klyde Griffith, with animal husbandry provided by K Griffith Ranching Ltd. The three were selected for the 2026 Charity Swine Project.

The pigs will be auctioned to raise funds for both the Oyen and District Health Foundation and the Hanna Hospital Auxiliary.

The Oyen Foundation, contacted June 5, stated funds from this event are not earmarked for any specific project but rather ongoing purchases. Past projects have included refurbishment of palliative care, current refurbishment of the hospital courtyard and ongoing purchase of medical equipment such as hospital beds and Duet bikes.

The Hanna Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, also contacted June 5, provided similar information. The organization uses funds for ongoing purchases and medical supports, including palliative care, hospital beds and medical equipment for long-term care and Hanna Hospital residents.

After the sale, all three pigs will be donated to both the Oyen Food Bank and the Hanna Food Bank. A past event collected 400 pounds of meat for each food bank. Feed donation was provided by Hand Hills Feed, with cutting and wrapping by Deerview Meats.
