Summer reading, movies and new books at Acadia Library

By Elsie Patterson
Library Manager

The library will be closed on July 1 for Canada Day.

Stop by the library before the last day of school to enter this month's draw. See if you can guess how many mini Mars bars are in the Canada cup. The person with the closest guess wins the cup and everything inside.

The Summer Reading Program will take place at the library on the following dates from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: July 9, 16, Aug. 6, 13 and 20. There will be stories, crafts, snacks, prizes and fun for children of all ages. All young children must be accompanied by a responsible caregiver.

The library will also host a summer reading contest for children to compete for prizes by reading the most minutes. Weekly prizes will be awarded during the Summer Reading Program sessions, and participants must attend to receive a prize. The grade prize will be awarded at the start of the new school year.

Children who will be on vacation or unable to attend the library this summer can still qualify for the grand prize. Reading logs are available for pickup at the library now.

The library will continue its Movie Night events throughout the summer. Join us on July 14 to watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie and on Aug. 18 to watch Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie. Viewing will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Snacks will be provided.
