Spring renewal warms Oyen Lodge week

By Dianne Spath
Oyen Lodge Recreation Director

Hello everyone. The rain showers sure are greening things up and it looks great. Also the smell of fresh cut grass along with the spring air flowing through the windows is always so refreshing in the spring. It's that time of year to start hanging laundry on the line for that extra freshness. Thanks to the maintenance men for keeping the grounds looking great for everyone to enjoy.

The Oyen Lodge would like to welcome a new resident, Sonja Salkeld.

Monday morning started with exercises, followed by a one-on-one scrabble game. In the afternoon there was bingo.

Exercises started our Tuesday morning, then the regular bus run downtown for shopping. Some of the residents enjoyed an outside walk before lunch. In the afternoon the residents enjoyed their choice of either a float, sundae or banana split at the ice cream parlor.

Wednesday morning there was church led by Catherine, followed by Phase Ten card game. In the afternoon Delbert Pratt was at the Lodge to entertain the residents with his cowboy poetry. It's always great to listen to some true stories through cowboy poetry.

Thursday morning started with exercises, then we went to Empress for dinner at the Red Fork Café. Thanks to Jordan for his excellent meals he serves, we totally recommend going there.

Exercises started our Friday morning, followed by horse races. #4 horse, Willy, was the big winner that day. In the afternoon the residents enjoyed some bingo, and in the evening there was music by Jorgenson's.

Happy birthday to Joan Mick on May 18th.

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend, whether it was camping, family bonding or yard work. Have a great week everyone.
