“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Martens to the team,” Jones said in the release. “Her strategic vision and proven track record in municipal governance made her the clear choice to lead our administration.”
Martens joins the town as longtime CAO Debbie Ross prepares to retire.
Jones thanked Ross for her years of service and wished her well in retirement.
In the release, Martens said she was honoured by the appointment and focused on the needs of Oyen residents throughout the interview process.
“Every decision we make in the office and in council chambers must support the well-being of our residents and businesses,” she said. “I am ready to roll up my sleeves, build on what’s working, and contribute to the good governance of this wonderful town.”
The town said Martens brings more than 20 years of senior leadership experience and is expected to relocate to Oyen with her husband, who is joining the local RCMP detachment.
Oyen Detachment Commander Sgt. Mike Brown also welcomed the couple, saying he looks forward to working with Martens to help keep Oyen safe and prosperous.
The town has invited residents to join mayor and council in welcoming Martens to the community.
