Hello, everyone. Wow, it has been a hot one, but there is also lots of moisture to cool things off and spruce things up again after the heat.

May is gone, which had many different seasons in the month, and hello June, which I'm sure will also have some interesting weather.

Thanks to the maintenance men for putting the fish into the pond for the residents to enjoy, and for the upkeep of making our courtyard look so good. A huge thank you to a local philanthropist, Micheal Herman, for providing drinks for the staff at Oyen Lodge from the Cool Beans Café in Oyen. Micheal wanted to give back to the healthcare community that cared for him. What a wonderful gesture, and it was greatly appreciated.

Monday morning started with exercises, followed by a one-on-one Scrabble game. In the afternoon there was bingo. Exercises and the regular bus run downtown for shopping started our

Tuesday morning. Father Rodell led Catholic Church at 10:30. The residents enjoyed an outdoor walk, and in the afternoon there was ice cream parlor, where the residents enjoyed their favourite ice cream sundae, float or banana split.

Wednesday there was Church led by Brad, followed by Phase Ten card game and crossword. In the afternoon there were shuffleboard games and then piano music by Taylor Neison.

On Thursday morning there were exercises, followed by dominos. There was an outdoor activity planned, but there was a heat warning and the temperature got up to 33 degrees, so we just relaxed inside.

Friday morning started with exercises, followed by horse races. The #2 horse, Mariah, was the top winner that day. In the afternoon there was bingo, and in the evening there was music by Jorgenson’s.

Happy Birthday to Gloria Jorgenson on May 29th, and to Lalaine Lachica on June 1st. June 1st to June 5th is Seniors' Week, so there will be plenty of fun activities for the residents to enjoy. Cabi Clothing by Christie Hittel and Avon will be at the Lodge on June 2nd. The pen pal windup will be at the Lodge on June 3rd at 1:00, and in the evening there will be music by Rob Shields and company. June 4th is the ice cream parlor at the FCSS building with the '50s theme.

On Friday there will be music by the Simpsom/Gilmar band from Consort at 2:00 p.m. So let's celebrate and appreciate the many contributions that our older adults make in our communities through volunteering, assisting charities, and supporting family and friends. We hope to increase awareness of the week and develop a positive attitude towards aging.

Have a great week, everyone.
