Oyen Chamber wraps successful spring cleanup, sets summer events

By Charmain Snell
Secretary, Oyen Chamber of Commerce

On April 30, 2026, the Oyen & District Chamber of Commerce hosted a Spring Town Cleanup in conjunction with the students and teachers of South Central High School, Oyen Public School and Assumption RC School. It was an extremely successful event, and it is something that the Chamber would like to host on an annual basis.

Students from all South Central High, Oyen Public and Assumption R.C. Schools did an excellent job in cleaning along their designated routes around town during the Community Cleanup Day.

Trey Martin from ATCO Electric handed out water bottles to the students.

Many local businesses (both Chamber members and non-members) made generous donations to this event (see ad). The Chamber donated the proceeds of these donations to each school for their breakfast programs. Chamber President Kim Walker attended each school and presented a cheque to each in the amount of $1,030.00.

The Chamber is updating our Business Directory for 2026. Betty Walker is assisting with this project and will be contacting local businesses to ensure that our information is current and correct. If you would like to add your business to our directory, please feel free to contact Betty at 403-664-3819.

The Chamber website is getting a facelift! Ed Ouellette of Ouellette Marketing and Design has been hired to take over and redesign the current Chamber website. Stay tuned for the launch date!

The Chamber has booked the Man Van to be in attendance in Oyen on July 18, 2026. The Man Van is Canada's first mobile men's health clinic offering FREE PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood testing used for early detection of prostate cancer. Please keep this date in mind and consider utilizing this service if you are between the ages of 40 and 70. No appointment is necessary.

The Chamber will once again be hosting a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, July 18, 2026, during the Indoor Rodeo and the Prairieland Athletic Slow Pitch Tournament. The breakfast is free to everyone but we will be taking toonie donations from those who can contribute.

The next bi-monthly meeting of the Oyen & District Chamber of Commerce will be on Monday, June 8, 2026 at noon. Lunch will be provided and everyone is welcome to attend. Please RSVP by June 5, 2026 if you are able to attend.

The Oyen & District Chamber of Commerce will once again be hosting the Meals on Wheels program for the month of June. If you are able to assist on any weekday in June, please contact me to sign up. Participation is voluntary and will require approximately 15-20 minutes of your time each day.
