Heritage Park Historical Village opens its 62nd season May 16 with a new interpretive focus on the trades, skills and people who built prairie communities.

Guests will work alongside blacksmiths, printers, ranch hands, builders and entrepreneurs through daily hands-on programming, live demonstrations and street theatre set in the early 1900s.

"Life in 2026 is incredibly convenient, but it's easy to lose sight of the skill, effort and ingenuity that have always been at the heart of building and sustaining a community," said Lindsey Galloway. "This season, we're inviting guests to reconnect with traditional trades through hands-on experiences that bring these skills and stories to life, offering a deeper appreciation for the work that shaped the past and continues to shape our world today."

Resource Ridge reopens with the return of the Badlands Dinosaur Dig, which debuted in 2025 and offers hands-on palaeontology rooted in prairie fossil discoveries. Returning favourites include the Antique Midway, horse-drawn wagon rides, farm animals and daily cultural programming.

June programming will mark National Indigenous History Month. July brings Music in the Plaza and Markets in the Plaza every Tuesday evening, with live performances, local vendors and shopping. Midway and a Movie returns with classic films, and Captain's Cruises aboard the S.S. Moyie continue on the Glenmore Reservoir.

Additional events and exhibit openings will be announced in the coming weeks.

Heritage Park Historical Village is open daily May 16 to Aug. 30 and weekends until Oct. 12, 2026. Tickets and details are at heritagepark.ca.
