From Wind to Warmth: Lanfine Wind’s annual dinner brings the family together

By Diana Walker

Our daily lives rush by; often, we don’t find time for a ‘family’ meal.

To celebrate and strengthen connections with those involved in the project, Lanfine Wind invited members of their family to an annual gathering of landowners, partners, and community members who’ve been part of the Lanfine Wind journey. The event took place at the Royal Canadian Legion on September 25.

The reception began at 6 p.m., with flavoured coffee provided by The Clay Cup, while Legion member Kim Walker served refreshments at the bar.

Guests chose their seats at the tastefully decorated table, centred with beautiful bouquets arranged by Ramona Smigelski and Selena Deryn Tainsh, and favours including maple syrup, shopping bags, Swedish dishcloths, and chocolates. Here’s Your Sign, Cereal, provided the bags and Swedish cloths.

Clint Olsen, Facility Manager, Lanfine Wind, welcomed ‘family’ and introduced new employees Will Little, Lead Wind Technician; Cora Demarce, Site Logistics Coordinator, Lanfine Wind; and Pat Murray, Community Relations Consultant. He also shared with attendees that a grant from the Lanfine Wind Community Fund made it possible for the Legion to purchase eight large tables.

He then invited everyone to make their way to the serving table for the sumptuous food prepared by Lori and Brad Toth: Jalapeno Popper Pork Tenderloin, marinated salmon fillets, roasted potatoes with sour cream, green onions, bacon bits, roasted carrots, honey butter skillet corn, broccoli/cauliflower salad, dill quinoa salad (vegan), a variety of pickles, whole wheat, white, and gluten-free buns, and butter. Dessert: pumpkin pecan pie cake or apple crisp with whipped cream, or gluten-free cake with whipped cream and raspberries.

Leftovers were placed in containers and sent home with guests as requested. One guest at each table was encouraged to take home the floral centrepiece.

The take-home gift was a boxed cinnamon bun provided by The Clay Cup.

Attendee Melvin Bingeman expressed the group's gratitude to Pat Murray by saying, “I want to thank you for everything you do for the community.”

Lanfine Wind hosted its annual family-style dinner on Sept. 25 at the Royal Canadian Legion, bringing together landowners, partners, and community members involved in the project. Guests enjoyed a beautifully decorated setting, a full dinner prepared by Lori and Brad Toth, and take-home gifts, while connecting with staff and learning about new initiatives.
