April keeps residents busy at Oyen Lodge

Hello everyone. The month of April is almost gone and it’s continuing to give us some stormy weather. Hopefully spring is here soon, so the farmers can get their seed in the ground. I’m sure the perennials are confused with this change in weather all the time.

Monday morning started with exercises. “Pieces by Sharon” clothing company was at the Lodge from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the residents to purchase some spring outfits.

Monday was National Volunteer Recognition Day, so thank you to all the volunteers for their time, dedication and generosity. We appreciate you.

Exercises started Tuesday’s morning activity. Then residents did the bus run downtown for their shopping needs. Father Rodell led Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. In the afternoon, there was pub hour, where refreshments and snacks were served and residents enjoyed socializing.

Wednesday morning, there was church led by John, followed by card playing. In the afternoon, the residents enjoyed coffee time and visiting with the Auxiliary residents. Before the supper hour, there was piano music by Taylor Neison.

Wednesday was National Earth Day, which is celebrated to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

Thursday morning, there were exercises, followed by Phase Ten card games. In the afternoon, there was bingo. Lucky winners of the number I29 bingos were Jean Olds and Doreen Rude, who doubled their winnings.

Friday morning started with exercises, followed by horse races. No. 4 horse, Willy, was the top winner. Maximum Hearing cancelled due to weather, but did reschedule for Friday, May 1. In the afternoon was card bingo, and in the evening, there was music by Jorgenson’s.

Happy birthday to Norma Shoemaker and Sharon Frieson on April 24. Happy birthday to Heather White on April 25.

“Clothes 2 You by Jodi” clothing company will be at the Lodge on Thursday, April 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the activity room.

Have a great week everyone, and stay safe.
